Reception Inspiration Board

Making these boards is totally fun. Here are my ideas for the reception. The apple is for a setup the caterer does for the appetizer table.

Both the wedding and reception will be beachfront- ceremony on the actual beach and the reception in the connected beach house- all wood and glass, it's awesome!

Bridesmaid Dress

Again, David's Bridal. It pretty much matches my dress with the ribbon and all. I plan on getting this in "pool". The color is a little off from the original "sky blue" I had wanted, but the pool will look just as good with the orange flowers.

I FOUND MY DRESS!

HOORAY! Browsing David's Bridal last night while a blizzard raged on outside, I pictured myself at our beach wedding, in this dress, with our killer tans. I'm buying this dress, it looks fantastic on me and it's only $399. I have a $50 off coupon from the expo I went to: so I have to use it before 3/3/08. I'm making my own veil (a circle piece of tulle with white ribbon edging attached to a comb: hardly worth the $149 they want for it in the store)

now i've just got to do a little strength training to get my arms slim and sexy.

For the Boys

Personally, I think a black tux looks a little rediculous on the beach. I like this much better, so does Dave. I think he'd look yummier in this anyway! I'm not really a tuxedo kind of girl.
The pants

The linen shirt, only it'll be white, not blue. (Maybe blue for the best man?)

Ideas for my dress

I am taking on the daunting task of hopefully "revamping" the wedding dress that hangs in my closet (originally bought it to fix and sell it). Haha. Wish me luck. I want to try to keep this as simple as possible, because Dave and all the other guys are wearing white/ivory linen shirts and khaki colored linen pants. Here are some dresses that I like:I really like this one, but the fabric might be too heavy. I could try to use real silk taffeta because it's softer. Hell, I should just buy some high thread count bed sheets!

There is NO way I could ever afford this dress. Ever. There are no knockoffs either. It would cost the same for me to have a dressmaker make it. But I love it, so I posted it!

That's it for now. I plan on editing this post with other ones I like. I'm going to David's Bridal tonight to try some on. Wish me luck. I'm friggin picky.

Reception Ideas

Here are some ideas for decorating the reception: I'm still a little unsure on which colors I'm choosing. I'm leaning toward red/orange and baby blue (the lanterns and color of the water)

A possible reception spot. Since there will be a lack of flowers, I'd like to do as many white lights and lanterns as possible to give the room an ethereal feel. It'll be easy to do because the ceiling has beams and will look decent because the ceiling is pointed in spots.

Here is an idea for favors. Rosemary infused sea-salts that guests can take home and cook with. They're also DIY, so easy on the pocket.

Then an idea for candle holder favors- but I think I might scrapthis idea-Some guests might think these are hideous.

I liked this idea for placecards. Rocks are free. Least expensive placecards EVER!

This is the way I'd like to do my centerpieces. I've priced glass vases, and they're expensive and huge (guests won't be able to see each other across the table) so instead of using vases, I'm going to buy plain cheap drinking glasses from Walmart or Target (17pc sets) in 2-3 different sizes. Then fill them with water, purple dendrobium orchids, and a floating candle on top. I'd also like to get a container to nestle the candle holders into sand and rocks.
